Week #1 September 8th 2011
Our first class at the Lyndon Outing Club was as interesting as it was productive. As a class we discussed ideas as to how we could become more involved and help improve things at the LOC. We also took part in an exercise where we named all of the different departments of a ski resort and discussed what they do. The class was then split into four groups: Marketing, Sustainability, Events, and Trail Maintenance. I was put into the Maintenance group along with Matt Browne, John Kuhn, and Ben Duplissis. Once we were in our groups, we tossed around ideas as to what we could do. In addition to the plan for a fall festival with a skate jam, our group came up with the idea to have a clean up day where we would take back brush and clear trails on the hill. I was very excited to get some first first hand experience on a small scale mountain operation and get involved.
